Everything that represents us is harmonized in a single artwork by Uriel Ortega, with distinctly Mexican tones, most notably those of our tricolor flag: green, white, and red. The profiles of our beautiful women flank the Aztec Templo Mayor, above which peeks the axolotl, a type of salamander endemic to Mexico and a fundamental part of the diet of the ancient Mexicans. Below, we see two birds representative of Mexico: on the left is the yellow-headed parrot, also endemic to our country (we have three subspecies), and on the right, the proud eagle that appears on our national coat of arms. Interestingly, one of the eyes of each of these birds is simultaneously an eye of the human face beside it. The eagle motif is reinforced on the sides, below the mariachi playing the trumpet and the pair of skeletons dancing to its rhythm, because, for Mexicans, the living enjoy life, and the dead… well, they do too! Finally, besides soccer and wrestling, which identify us worldwide, next to the Monument to the Revolution and an agave plant and a couple of cactus—plants native to Mexico—you can see a scene of our also very well-known folk dances. That’s why we say with great pride: “I love you, Mexico.”
